17 Weeks

Hello Again. Just another update! I go to the Dr on Wed for a check up. Things seem to be great so well see what the Dr has to say. I have been getting migranes and had one so bad on saturday that it made me sick, Q and I were suppose to head up to Boulder to look at housing for him. He has been accepted into CU Boulders law school and will start this fall. I was so sick we were unable to go :( I am hoping my Dr can figure out why this is happening on Wed. Please keep us in your prayers! LOVE YOU all!

How Big is the Baby at 17 Weeks Pregnant?

Your baby is anywhere from 4.4 to 4.8 inches by pregnancy week 17 and weighs almost 3 ½ ounces! If you were to hold your baby at 17 weeks pregnant, she would fit snuggly in the palm of your hand. Your baby is about the size of a small pomegranate by pregnancy 17 weeks.

Your Baby's Growth and Development

Your baby during week 17 is now very mobile, gleefully moving his joints here, there and everywhere and will continue to do so as you continue your pregnancy week by week. The cartilage making up the skeleton in your baby's body is starting to transform into bone. At pregnancy 17 weeks time your baby should be hearing things. Your baby will start putting on some layers of fat in the weeks to come, though at this point in time your baby is made up of primarily water.
You may be feeling your baby move intermittently after pregnancy week 17, though as your pregnancy progresses you will likely start feeling your baby move more and more.
There are many natural health practitioners that believe in the power of touch. Though your little one is still very small, your touch may do much to help him feel safe and warm inside the womb. If you haven't started already, you might consider rubbing your 'pooch' in calming circular motions. This will not only help comfort your little one, but will help initiate the bonding process with you and your newborn baby throughout your pregnancy and after.
Other women find comfort when playing music to their unborn children. There is evidence suggesting that your baby responds to music even while in the womb. Thus, there is no harm in playing some calm and engaging music to your baby even while they are in the womb.

16 weeks

Hey Everyone! I have made it yet another week!....take a look and see what is going on!

Changes In My Body
Most women report their favorite part of pregnancy is feeling their baby move inside them. By 16 weeks pregnant you might start feeling little fluttering in your stomach for the first time. This sensation may be gas, but in many cases this far along it is often your baby's way of saying hello! Most babies are enjoying the vast amount of space they have to move around the uterus around 16 weeks pregnant, thus swim about vigorously. This can result in a variety of unusual sensations in your lower abdomen.

My Baby
By pregnancy week 16 your baby is more than 4.5 inches long and may weigh almost 3 ounces.

Changes In My Growing Baby
Your baby is planning on a huge growth spurt in the upcoming weeks. During pregnancy week 16 your baby has grown strong enough to hold his head straighter. Your baby's eyes and ears are moving into their final position and your baby is focusing much of her energy on her circulation system. By 16 weeks pregnant your baby's heart is pumping roughly 25 quarts of blood each day! At 16 weeks pregnant your baby starts growing fine hair on the tope of his head, though some babies will be born very bald despite their best efforts. The color of your baby's hair and even your baby's eyes may change shortly after birth. Many babies are born with blonde hair for example that falls out and turns brown a short time after birth. Still others are born with brown eyes that turn blue within a month or two after birth! Your baby will continue to amaze you in the weeks following pregnancy.

15 Weeks

I am 15 weeks today! I recived a phone call from my Dr. this morning reguarding my blood tests. All my prenatals look wonderful she said!! Which is good news. My blood type is A- which is one of the more rare blood types so I do have to have an injection but the Dr. said it is nothing to be worried about! I have been having heat flashes often and have to keep a fan running in my office at work :) This week I left work early with some stomach pains but apparently my tummy is just stretching!

Here is what is going on this week with the baby!!! So much is changing...

Although many women don't start feeling the baby move until the 17th week (or later), your baby has been having his own party in the amniotic sac he calls home. If you feel a little flutter in your belly this week, don't discount it as gas or hunger. It could be your babe banging around.

Here's more to look forward to:Baby's head is now resting on his well-formed neck instead of directly on his shoulders like Igor. He's beginning to grow eyebrows and eyelashes this week. (All the better to give you that "Mom, you're crazy" look when he's a teenager.) The hair on the head also begins to grow and, with some creative styling, you'll be able to turn those locks into a Maddox Jolie-Pitt faux-hawk some day. Although baby's eyes are sealed shut, he's now able to sense light. His eyes and ears finally look like real baby features now. As your baby practices sucking and swallowing actions, he may actually hiccup. You'll know he's had one too many shots of amniotic fluid by the steady thump-thump you feel. Over the next month, baby will grow faster than ever, so make sure you load up on enough nutritious food and fluids to support his growth. Your baby now measures nearly 4 inches, about the size of a Kit Kat "finger" (regular-size, not the Big one you get at the movies), and weighs almost 2 ounces.

14 1/2 Weeks

Thought I would post a pic of my belly for everyone to see! It is getting big :) I have gained 8 pounds so far!

First Ultrasound

I thought I would post my very FIRST ultrasound picture for everyone to see as well! This is when I was 8 weeks and 3 days!! Grandma and Grandpa call the baby their "lil peanut"....I think it looks so much like a little cashew :)

14 weeks

Hey everyone! This is my frist post to my blog! I am now 14 weeks! Here is a pic of my ultrasound I had yesterday, the baby is very healthy and growing so fast!
Here are some cool thing to know about what the baby is doing this week...
Your baby now has fingerprints! Believe it or not, the baby actually created them him/herself while swimming around in the amniotic fluid. As he/she moved his/her hands, the skin on the tips of his/her fingers formed unique ridges and folds. That's why no one on earth has the same fingerprints, not even identical twins! Cool, right? Baby's arms are now in proportion to his/her tiny body, but his/her legs are still on the short size in comparison.
Baby is about 3 1/2 inches long...the size of a lemon and 1 1/2 ounces!
I have a nice baby bump now and I am feeling wonderful. I have not experienced any morning sickness. A few minor headaches is about it and I have a new found energy now which I am loving! :)
Thank you to everyone for all your love and support it means the world to me. This has been somewhat of a difficoult time in my life but knowing you all are behind me makes it much easier. I am getting very excited about this little miracle growing inside of me!
In 6 weeks I will find out what I am having and hope to keep you all up to date on how the baby and I are doing! Please join me on this wonderful journey!!
